BOWMAN - Lawrence "Larry"
Age 87, of the Tonawanda's, June 12, 2013, at his residence under the care of Niagara Hospice; husband of 61 years of Shirley (nee Czysz) Bowman; father of William Bowman, Julie Walters and Mary-Jean Bowman and husband Mark Woodard; grandfather of Nicholas, Gillian (David), William (Amy), Robert (Jennifer), Meghan, Christopher, Zachary and Shay; four great-grandchildren and his loyal companions Scamper and Hobo; son of the late Lawrence and Barbara (nee Herrmann) Bowman; brother of the late Elizabeth Kantor, Barbara McCormick, Ann Cramer and William Bowman; also survived by many nieces and nephews especially Colleene. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 4-8 PM at JOHN O. ROTH FUNERAL HOME, INC., 25 William St. (between Morgan & Broad Sts.) in Tonawanda. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 9:30 AM in St. Francis of Assisi Chapel, 71 Adam St. in Tonawanda. Friends invited. A private interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined, memorials may be made to the Erie County SPCA or to Niagara Hospice in Lockport. Larry was a US Navy Veteran, serving with the Seabees during Word War II. He was a long time employee of the Maryvale School System, beginning as a Teacher and retiring as Assistant Superintendent of Schools. He relocated to Southern California, where he was employed by Rockwell International. He was a member of Tonawandas' Post 264 American Legion and Madonna Council 2535 Knights of Columbus.
