Buffalo man, 47, arrested on drug, identity charges

A 47-year-old Peoria Street man was arrested on drug and false identity charges late Sunday afternoon after allegedly swallowing a spoonful of heroin as police approached him and then claiming a false identity. Luis Perez was taken into custody at Niagara Street and Pennsylvania Street at about 4:19 p.m. after he allegedly shoved the heroin down his throat.

Police then reportedly found him holding a spoon containing heroin residue. He was also accused of trying to pass himself off as someone else.

Perez was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence, false personation and falsifying a business record for allegedly signing a false name on a police document.
