Walker to challenge Hill for Niagara County legislature seat

ROYALTON – Joshua D. Walker, grandson of Niagara County Conservative Party founder Raymond Walker, has announced that he is running for the 15th District County Legislature seat now held by Hartland Republican Michael A. Hill.

Walker, a union electrician, is a registered Conservative but will run with Democratic Party backing.

“He’s young, energetic and smart and wants to bring fresh ideas to the Legislature. We need people like Josh Walker to turn the county around and restore integrity,” county Democratic Chairman Nicholas J. Forster said.

Walker, 30, called for reform of the county’s purchasing policy and the Industrial Development Agency. He blasted the Republican-controlled Legislature’s long-term voting machine storage lease at a Newfane building owned by Lockport developer David L. Ulrich, a major GOP contributor.

“The political dealing in the Legislature is rampant, and we must change the way the county conducts business,” Walker said.
