Give a free screening for Father’s Day

Mount St. Mary’s Hospital and Health Center next week will sponsor the 13th Annual “A Father’s Day Gift of Love and Life” – a free prostate cancer screening.

The free screenings will be offered from noon to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 7 a.m. to noon Saturday, in the Outpatient Center in the north lobby of the hospital at 5300 Military Road, Town of Lewiston.

The Outpatient Center can be reached through the North Entrance Driveway off Military Road.

“The PSA blood test is simple and it often indicates a potential problem before any symptoms appear,” said Richard Faiola, vice president of Shipman Print Solutions and chairman of the event for the hospital Board of Associates.

More than 350 men were screened last year. Screening is recommended for men over the age of 40, especially those with a family history of prostate cancer.

Preregistration is unnecessary. This is not a fasting test. Results will be forwarded to the patient’s personal physician.

Free gift certificates are available for presentation to loved ones by calling 298-2145. Gift certificates are not required to have a screening.
