Cab driver’s wallet turns up missing

NIAGARA FALLS – A 48-year-old Niagara Falls cab driver told city police Sunday that he believes his wallet was stolen from his cab.

The LaSalle Taxi driver said he dropped a 24-year-old woman off in the 2200 block of Niagara Avenue just before noon on Sunday and after parking the cab he got out and helped her with her bags.

A few minutes later he noticed that his wallet, which he had left in the handle of the driver’s side door, was missing. The driver said he did not see the woman take the wallet and the woman denied taking it. The wallet contained $250.

The driver reportedly demanded the woman return the money. The woman told police she allowed the driver to enter her house and search her, but was uncomfortable about how he searched her.
