Marijuana growing operation shut down in Busti

TOWN OF BUSTI – Two men and a woman were arrested and an allegedly sophisticated marijuana trafficking operation was shut down here this morning by the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s SWAT Team and agents of the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force and Lakewood-Busti police.

Taken into custody at both 515 Busti-Sugar Grove Road and 529 Busti-Sugar Grove Road about 8:45 a.m. today were John A. Boardman, 31; Jennifer A. Grundstrom, 29, and Brad A. Strickland, 26.

Following a two-month investigation Chautauqua County Judge John T. Ward issued search warrants allowing the raid of the two houses. A quantity of marijuana with an estimated street value of over $500,000 and some controlled substances were seized.

Boardman and Grundstrom are charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree. Boardman and Strickland are separately charged with unlawfully growing marijuana and criminal possession of marijuana in the second-degree. Any members of the community observing suspected narcotics-related activities are urged to call either 1-800-344-8702 or local police.
