Ronda Koban-Sortore, a Niagara Falls restaurateur and Town of Lewiston court clerk, died Friday at Niagara Hospice, Lockport, after a long illness. She was 48.
Mrs. Koban-Sortore began working in her family’s Koban’s Restaurant as a teenager and eventually took over operations with her mother, Dorothy Misch Koban, and her sister, Marsha Frost, after the death of her father, Ronald.
For 23 years, she also worked as a loan officer for the Buffalo Firefighters Federal Credit Union.
A self-described hockey mom and dance mom, she was devoted to her family.
Born and raised in Niagara Falls, she moved to Lewiston, where she was recently was appointed clerk of the Town Court.
Besides her mother and sister, she is survived by her husband of 18 years, David Sortore; a son, Zachary; a daughter, Andrea; and her grandmother, Mary Jonnotte.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Mary of the Cataract Catholic Church, 259 Fourth St., Niagara Falls.
