Bulletin Board for April 26

Alexandria Szpila from the Orchard Park Gymsters won the Level 7 NYS Gymnastics All-Around (Senior E Division) title in Rochester last weekend. She placed first on the vault and bars and second on the beam. Haley Arthur (Junior F) was first on the beam. Trinity Tartaro (Junior A) was first in the vault, second on the bars and fourth in all-around. Lauren Blair (Child F) was third in the vault and sixth in the all-around. Carmen Braccio (Senior E) was third in the bars, beam, floor exercise and all-around. Emily Bondanza (Senior F) was sixth in the vault, beam and all-around. Jordan Gray (Senior C) was seventh on the bars.


Six powerlifters from WNY won their age groups and weight classes at the Canadian-American Nationals in Rochester on Sunday. National records were set by Quinn Stevenson in the 100-pound class, Tom Stevenson in the masters 300-pound class and Chuck Wuest in the senior masters 198-pound class. State records were set by Phil DiFrancisco, Mark Becht and Gerry Park, all in the masters 198-pound classes.


Buffalo Turners’ Level 7 Team competed at the Level 7 New York State Championship in Rochester and have two state champions: Dakota Piehler on Vault and Molly Denman on Floor Exercise. Denman also placed fifth All Around and Piehler took third on Uneven Bars. Teammates Olivia VeRost placed third on Uneven Bars, fifth on Floor Exercise and sixth on Vault to finish seventh All Around. Mikala Thursam took fourth on Uneven Bars to place sixth All Around, while Meadow Wright won third place on Balance Beam.


HOCKEY: The West Seneca Wings Womens Senior B team has a few openings for players 19-25 years old. For information, contact Al Fuller at 583-0941. …The 22nd annual high school stars summer league is accepting applications for high school aged players. The league will feature a 12-game schedule with free playoffs. All games will be played at Holiday Twin Rinks & Leisure Rinks. There is a varsity and junior varsity divisions. GOLF: The Buffalo Chapter of the Credit Union 17th annual tournament will be held June 24 at Chestnut Hill Country Club at 9 a.m.. Entry fee is $95 per golfer and includes 18 holes with cart, lunch, dinner, refreshments and prizes. Non-golfers can have dinner and refreshments and prizes for $35. All proceeds benefit the Children’s Miracle Network.

SOFTBALL: The Gowanda area men’s slow pitch league will begin on May 30. All games will be played at Hidi Park on Thursday nights through August 29. There are a few openings for out-of-town and local teams. There is no registration fee and all equipment is provided by Hidi Park. Interested teams should contact Mark Benton at 532-4053 or email
