Rebelution brings its uplifting reggae-dub blend to the Town Ballroom

Santa Barbara-born reggae-dub outfit Rebelution brings its “Winter Greens Tour” to the Town Ballroom (681 Main St.) at 8 p.m. Saturday. The band is touring in support of its latest album, last year’s ambitious triple-record set “Peace of Mind.” That album found the group – vocalist/guitarist Eric Rachmany, keyboardist Rory Carey, bassist Marley D. Williams and drummer Wesley Finley – stretching out from its roots-reggae-world music base to craft a far-reaching fusion of reggae and dub with jam-band stylings. The album, despite its rather experimental nature and considerable length, quickly became Rebelution’s greatest commercial success, clocking in at a peak of No. 13 on the Billboard Top 200 charts.

The band’s music is marked by a consistently optimistic, life-affirming and hope-tinged worldview, which blends ably with the lithe, winsome grooves and deep, funky dub bass lines it favors.

Conehead Buddha has been touring steadily since the mid-’90s, bringing its horn-fueled danceable jam-band stylings around the country and building a sizable following up and down the East Coast along the way. The group plays at 10 p.m. Saturday in Nietzsche’s (248 Allen St.). Slip Madigan and Groove Force share the bill. Admission at the door will be $7.

A multi-act celebration of regional indie rock takes place at the Forvm at the Maple Entertainment Complex (4224 Maple Road, Amherst) at 7 tonight. Headlined by Rochester’s Joywave, the bill will also include Colors in the Air, Space Cubs and Mosaics. Admission will be $8 at the door.

Funktional Flow is joined by Shotgun Jubilee at 11 tonight in Mr. Goodbar (1110 Elmwood Ave.). Admission is $3.

The Hertel Lounge (1669 Hertel Ave.) welcomes funk/soul/R&B outfit Dan Ross and Friends at 9 p.m. Friday.

Transmission Dance Party takes over the Waiting Room (334 Delaware Ave.) at 10:30 p.m. Saturday. Expect to hear a broad range of indie, electronic and alternative dance music. Admission will be $6 at the door.
