WHEATFIELD – A door window was smashed to gain entry to a gas station in the 2000 block of River Road, and a thief made off with about 70 packs of cigarettes at about 1 a.m. Tuesday, Niagara County sheriff’s deputies reported.

Deputies responded to an alarm at the Citgo station and found the broken window and a few packs of cigarettes on the ground.

Security video showed a dark colored two-tone full size pickup with a gray bottom pull up to the scene and a white male, wearing a gray hooded sweatsuit, with white lines across the back of the sweatshirt, with white lines on the legs of the suit, white sneakers and black gloves, medium build, approximately five foot, nine inches with brown hair, who was seen throwing a lighted cigarette onto the ground just before he smashed the window and removed 70 packs of Newports and Marlboro cigarettes. Loss and damages were more than $1,000.
