State corrections officer arrested for official misconduct

MAYVILLE -- A 52-year-old state corrections officer who lives in Dunkirk was arrested today by State Police working with the Chautauqua County District Attorney’s office on an investigation.

Christopher J. Ley, a corrections officer at the Lakeview Correctional Facility in Brocton was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of official misconduct following a two-month investigation. Ley is accused of getting improperly involved in a cigarette exchange scheme with inmates at the facility.

Ley has been ordered to appear in Portland Town Court for arraignment in several weeks. His current job status was not disclosed.
