The West Side Rowing Club appointed Barbara Zarish Johnson director of fundraising and recruiting. Johnson has 20 years of experience in hospitality marketing.


The Western New York Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Contractors appointed Joe Marchitte, of MIS Plumbing Corp., president of its board of directors. The Canisius College Accounting Society will honor Patricia A. Johnson, assistant professor of accounting at Canisius, as the Outstanding Accountant in Western New York at the 57th annual Canisius College Accounting Society Banquet at 6:30 p.m. next Thursday in Salvatore’s Italian Gardens, Lancaster. The society will also recognize James S. Segarra, managing partner, Tronconi Segarra & Associates, with the Dr. Joseph R. Coppola ’40 Award, which recognizes the exceptional achievements of a Canisius College accounting alumnus. Johnson has taught at Canisius for 19 years, specializing in financial accounting.


The Buffalo Western New York Chapter of the Construction Specifications Institute named Alex Grande electronic communications chairman and Bill Diehl program chairman on its board of directors.

Company Connections

The U.S. Department of Energy recognized Buffalo Energy, Elma; Zenner & Ritter, Buffalo; and Town Insulation, Sanborn, with the 2012 Century Club Awards for outstanding contributions in 2012. The building trades contractors participated in the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority’s Home Performance With Energy Star program and completed 100 or more energy-efficiency projects through the program’s “whole house” approach during the year.


Allpro Parking recently opened operations at seven new locations in Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati, including the company’s first locations in downtown Cleveland. The new locations added nearly 3,700 spaces to the Allpro Parking Ohio portfolio. Allpro Parking operates in nine cities, managing more than 100 locations with 42,394 parking spaces annually.


Quinlan was named a bronze winner in the 34th annual Telly Awards for “Great Taste Has Landed,” a 30-second video for Sahlen Packing Co. showcasing hot dogs and deli meats available across New York state.


The General Motors Foundation donated $10,000 to the United Way of Greater Niagara. The donation was presented to the United Way by Pat Curtis, plant manager of the GM Components Holdings plant in Lockport, at the United Way of Greater Niagara’s annual meeting. In total, the GM Foundation will donate $20,000 this year to charities in Niagara County.
