James M. McIntyre, retired land surveyor

July 5, 1927 – April 14, 2013

LEWISTON – James M. “Gentleman Jim” McIntyre, a retired land surveyor, died of injuries suffered in a fire Sunday at his home. He was 85.

Born in Niagara Falls, he attended Maple Avenue School and was a 1945 graduate of Niagara Falls High School. He served as a photographer in the Army Signal Corps in 1946 and 1947.

He became a licensed land surveyor in 1954 and founded his own firm, McIntyre Land Surveying, in Niagara Falls. After he retired last year, his son Jared acquired the company.

He was a former member of the board of directors of the Main Street Business Association of Niagara Falls.

An avid golfer, Mr. McIntyre was a member of Niagara Falls Country Club.

He enjoyed sailing, boating, traveling and collecting antique cars. He also maintained a vacation home in Naples, Fla.

Surviving are his wife of 41 years, the former Shirley Willmott; nine children, and a sister, Kathryn Goss.
