Wilson’s new mayor appoints Republican to fill old trustee seat

WILSON – Having promised not to consider political affiliations in making his decision, newly-elected Wilson Mayor Bernard “Bernie” Leiker, a Democrat, has appointed Republican James Madan to fill the final year of his unexpired trustee term on the Wilson Village Board.

Madan joins Republican trustee Gerard “Jerry” Kadryna and Leiker on the three-person board. Madan resigned his post on the village’s Zoning Board of Appeals to take his new appointment.

A Westchester County native, Madan obtained a bachelor’s degree in history and political science from Washington University, St. Louis, Mo. He moved to New York City in 1995, first working for the NASD, the regulatory body of the NASDAQ Stock Market, and then for Knight Securities, eventually becoming self-employed as an independent trader.

Madan moved to Wilson in 2008 with his wife, Kate, who is from Wilson.
