Where We Live: West Seneca

West Seneca

Keeping the West Seneca Town Pool in operation for the 2013 season will be among the tasks to be handled at Monday’s West Seneca Town Board meeting.

Board members will consider a change order request from William L. Watson Co. of Eden that will make the total replacement cost of pool infrastructure “to ensure continued operation of the pool,” $64,270. Watson will replace all of the piping from the pool filter to the pool pump as well as the frame and doors that allow access to the pool’s filtration system, according to town documents.

Also included on Monday’s agenda will be the re-designation of Evelyn Hicks, chair of the West Seneca Environmental Commission, as the town’s representative on the Erie County Environmental Management Council for a two-year term expiring in 2015.

The town board is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. Monday at West Seneca Town Hall, 1250 Union Road.

Also this week:

• The West Seneca Central School District Board of Education will hold a 6:30 p.m. Tuesday regular meeting in the district offices on the second-floor of West Elementary School, 1397 Orchard Park Road.

• The Burchfield Nature and Art Center, 2001 Union Road, will show the 2008 film “The Fall,” as part of its regular movie night at the center. The R-rated movie will be shown from 7-9 p.m. Thursday.

• The Burchfield will host an Earth Day cleanup from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the center. Helpers are needed to rake, pick up litter, haul brush and any other tasks to spruce up the park around the center. The event will be held rain or shine.

• West Seneca schools’ District Chorus Concert will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday from the auditorium of West Senior High School, 3330 Seneca St.

• Correcting an error in last week’s “Where We Live: West Seneca,” Jim Pace, the town historian, said that the West Seneca building getting State historic register listing – the “Community of True Inspiration Residence” – is the West Seneca Historical Society Museum building at 919 Mill Road. It is not the Christian Metz House on School Street as was reported here last week.
