Two brush fires extinguished on Niagara Glen hiking trail

NIAGARA FALLS, Ont. – Two large brush fires were put out in the Pebbly Beach area of the Niagara Glen hiking trail by members of the Niagara Park Police high-angle river team late Monday afternoon along the 3000 block of the Niagara Parkway.

High-angle team members hiked into the glen to ensure hikers were all safe and put out a small fire near the north entrance to the glen trail system and a larger fire farther north along the red trail system known as Pebbly Beach.

The Niagara Falls, Ont., Fire Department helped in extinguishing the larger of the two brush fires. The causes of both fires remains under investigation.
