Herd washed out, open new series tonight

Wednesday afternoon’s game between the Buffalo Bisons and the Syracuse Chiefs at Coca-Cola Field was postponed due to rain.

The teams will make up the game as part of a single-admission doubleheader on Aug. 12 at Coca-Cola Field at a time to be announced.

Fans holding tickets to Wednesday’s game can exchange them for a comparable ticket to any future 2013 Bisons games – excluding special events. The exchanges must be made at the Coca-Cola Field Box Office. Fans with tickets can exchange them throughout the remainder of the 2013 season.

Right-hander Claudio Vargas (0-0, 3.60) is scheduled to start for Buffalo against Graham Stoneburner (0-1, 4.5) in tonight’s opener of a four-game series with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, the New York Yankees’ affiliate (6 p.m., Radio 1520 AM).

The Toronto Blue Jays announced Wednesday that Bisons right-hand pitcher Alex Burnett has been designated for assignment. Burnett pitched two scoreless innings for the Herd this season.
