HEBERT, Ernest Patrick

HEBERT - Ernest Patrick Passed away peacefully on April 5, 2013 at Sentara Hospital in Williamsburg, VA. Ernie was born in Fall River, MA on the fourth of July in 1924 and was raised in New York City. During World War II he joined the United States Navy and eventually became a naval aviator. During his Navy career he was a flight instructor and flew a diverse number of aircraft including the P2V and helicopters. After retiring from the Navy he became a corporate pilot in Buffalo, NY and built the company aviation capability from a small propeller aircraft to the most modern Cessna Citation Jet. Retiring again, he moved with his wife to Virginia Beach and established a TV and video business which he operated for a number of years. In his final retirement, he developed a passion for golf and played avidly until recent years while volunteering at Oceana Naval Base Navy Relief, the base chapel and the base library. In 2010 he moved to the Chambrel in Williamsburg to be closer to family. Ernie was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Marguerite (Peggy), and his sister, Trudy O'Reilly. He is survived by four children, Colonel (USA, Ret) Joseph P. Hebert (Susan), Patricia Brenkus, Brian Hebert (Pam) and Margaret Agostinelli, 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grand children. He will be ceremonially interred at Arlington National Cemetery next to his wife at a date to be determined. Online condolences may be expressed at www.nelsencares.com
