Two-time weapons offender facing seven to 15 years in prison

A Highview Road man faces seven to 15 years in prison when sentenced on his guilty plea to his second felony gun charge.

Ronald East Jr., 30, pleaded guilty last week before State Supreme Court Justice M. William Boller to second-degree criminal possession of a weapons for having a loaded .38-caliber revolver early April 28 on Humboldt Parkway.

Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita said police had questioned him in his vehicle at Humboldt and East Delavan Avenue, where he blocked traffic while making a cellphone call. East had tried to run off after officers found a revolver beneath the driver’s seat and also smelled alcohol on him, authorities said.
