Five people and dog led to safety after straying from gorge trails

NIAGARA FALLS, Ont. – Five people and a dog were rescued about 5:30 p.m. Saturday after they strayed off marked trails in the Niagara Gorge below Thompson’s Point, parks service personnel said.

The hikers ere guided to safety along a rope pathway that emergency service personnel set up to guide them to the lower gorge trails and safety. Once safe, the hikers ere examined by Niagara Emergency Medical Services personnel. No one was injured.
