Lockport mayor won’t replace director of utilities

LOCKPORT – City Director of Utilities Paula M. Sattelberg will retire Dec. 28 and will not be replaced, Mayor Michael W. Tucker said this week.

Sattelberg, who has been with the city since 1980, had been in charge of both the water and sewer operations for five years. During an 18-month experiment in shared services that ended in June, she also handled the same duties in North Tonawanda.

Sattelberg, 56, earned $101,250 in 2011 when dividing time between the two cities. She was slated for a Lockport-only salary of $68,433 per year. Tucker intends to promote one water worker and one sewer worker as superintendent in their respective departments.
