WALES HOLIDAY PROGRAM: The Town of Wales will hold a tree-lighting ceremony and caroling in front of the Community Center, 1234 Big Tree Road, at 6 p.m Sunday. There will be a hands-on Christmas project indoors for the kids and refreshments will be served.

ROUNDTABLE ON TAXES: The Clarence Chamber of Commerce will host a Business Roundtable about taxes and other compliance issues for nonprofits, at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the Clarence Public Library. The presentation is recommended for local civic and service-oriented organizations. The panel will consist of representatives from Dopkins & Co. CPAs, the Watson Bennett law firm, and P&C Solutions LLC, commercial insurance. The event is open to the public. RSVP to the Chamber office at 631-3888.

HOLIDAY BASH AND SCHOLARSHIP FUNDRAISER: The Hamburg Chamber of Commerce will ring in the holiday season with its annual Holiday Bash from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Event Center at the Fairgrounds, 5820 South Park Ave., Hamburg. Proceeds go toward the Chamber scholarship fund for local high school students to attend college in the fall. The event features special live performance by The Diva Show Band along with food and carving stations, complimentary open bar from 6 to 7 p.m., prizes and raffles. Admission is $30 per person. FOOD DONATION PICKUP: When the fire trucks roll out Wednesday evening in the Kenilworth Fire District in the Town of Tonawanda, it won't be for smoke and flames. They'll be picking up donations of food. The Kenilworth Fire Department Boy Scout Troop 286 and Girl Scout Troops 782 and 30612 distributed fliers and bags at every home in the district last weekend asking residents to fill the bags with nonperishable food items and set them out at their front doors for collection.

FIRST WEDNESDAY PROGRAM: Stephen G. Myers, co-author of "Buffalo Railroads" and author of "Buffalo Postcards," will be on hand to sign his books from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday for the next "First Wednesday" program in the Steel Plant Museum of Western New York, located in the Heritage Discovery Center, 100 Lee St. The books will be available for purchase at the event. Also, Bill Doherty will conduct a Christmas songfest with audience participation at 6 p.m. Admission is free, and refreshments will be available for purchase. For information, call 821-9361.

DOCUMENTARY SCREENING: Single Payer NY will present "The Healthcare Movie," a documentary tracing the development of the American and Canadian health care systems, following a discussion of how Medicare can be preserved, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the Art Gallery Room at the Olean Public Library, 134 N. Second St., Olean. The event is free and open to the public.
