Angels from heaven

Immanuel Lutheran Church will offer a free workshop on the theology of angels from 9 a.m. to noon next Saturday in the church's Lorenz Hall, 107 Scott St., Tonawanda. Pastor Andrew Abraham will use Bible stories in considering what role these "mysterious messengers from heaven" play in encouraging people on earth.

Advent service

An Advent Taize prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 13 in St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church, 565 East Park Drive, Town of Tonawanda. The all-ages ecumenical prayer service will include scripture readings, prayer, mediation and music. Call 875-9430 for more information.


Retiree benefit

The 25th annual Retirement Fund for the Religious luncheon will be held at noon on Friday in the Hyatt Regency Buffalo Hotel, 2 Fountain Plaza, featuring a performance by the Immaculata Academy Concert Choir and remarks by Bishop Richard J. Malone. The annual collection for Catholic religious sisters and brothers will be held in area parishes on Dec. 8 and 9.


Women's breakfast

The Rev. David Richards will be guest speaker for the Magnificat Ministry to Catholic Women breakfast 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. next Saturday in the Holiday Inn-Amherst, 1881 Niagara Falls Boulevard, Amherst.
