'TIS THE SEASON – Santa arrives at noon today to officially open Kriskindlemart, the annual holiday food and craft fair at the Broadway Market, 999 Broadway, and promises to return every day of the festival, which continues on Saturdays through December and daily from Dec. 17 to Christmas Eve.

ALL-L-L ABOARD! – Chuffing again today is the Model Train Diorama at the Buffalo History Museum, One Museum Court, Elmwood Avenue at Nottingham Terrace. It's the annual Train Day, and tiny locomotives will scurry across the layout of more than 100 miniature century-old local landmarks from 1 to 4 p.m. under auspices of the museum's volunteer Rail Barons.
The day also includes family activities such as face painting, scavenger hunts and live music by the Rail Barons Band. It's included in regular museum admission, which is $7 for adults, $5 for seniors and students ages 13 to 21, $2.50 for kids ages 7 to 12. Youngsters 6 and under get in free, as do museum members. BORN TO SHOP – Offering an alternative to the madness at the malls today is the second annual Black Friday Boutique Crawl, which invites shoppers to spend the day instead in the shops, boutiques and restaurants of Buffalo's Elmwood Village.
The crawl begins with check-in from 8 to 11 a.m. at Caffee Aroma, Spot Coffee, Dolci, Coffee Culture and Gelateria Luca, where shoppers will receive a Boutique Crawl punch card and a map. Each participating store will punch the card. Those who visit 15 shops or more can turn in their card and be entered in a prize giveaway. SEASONAL SOUNDS – The Sanborn Fire Company Band will perform its annual Christmas concert at 7 p.m. Sunday in the fire hall, 5811 Buffalo St., Sanborn. Doors open at 6:30. LUCKY NUMBERS – Olmsted Center for Sight, which operates the 2-1-1 phone service for all eight Western New York counties, announces that it will serve as the Holiday Toy Program Clearinghouse for Erie and Niagara counties, providing toy assistance for low-income families. The 2-1-1 service is staffed with professionals 24 hours a day and provides callers with information on services in their neighborhoods, including rent assistance, food banks, health resources, child care and job training.
