A Town of Marilla woman remained in critical condition Tuesday in Erie County Medical Center, after being struck by a vehicle while trying to cross the road to get her mail Monday evening, state police reported.
Sandra E. Chandler, 67, of Two Rod Road, was taken by Mercy Flight to ECMC, following the accident that occurred shortly after 7 p.m. Monday.
Troopers said Chandler parked her vehicle in her driveway and attempted to cross the road before she was struck by a northbound vehicle driven by an East Aurora woman who was unable to stop in time. The impact knocked Chandler about 25 feet, into a ditch on the east side of the road, according to police reports.
The investigation is continuing, with the help of the State Police Collision Reconstruction Team.
