Bandits pick fifth in NLL draft

The National Lacrosse League will stage its annual draft tonight, and the Buffalo Bandits figure to be busy in the early rounds.
The Bandits have a first-round pick, fifth overall. Dhane Smith and Joe Resetarits are considered possible choices by Buffalo. Smith is the cousin of Bandits' defender Billy Dee Smith. Hamburg's Resetarits is the brother of Frank, a former Bandit, and is considered ready to step right into the league.
The Bandits are also scheduled to pick 13th, 16th and 18th. It's possible Buffalo could try to package some of those picks and move up in the draft. This also is a time that all NLL teams consider trades.
Edmonton has the first overall pick, and is expected to take Mark Matthews. The native of Oshawa, Ont., is considered a future star.
