DAEMEN ENVIRONMENTAL SUMMIT: The eighth annual Western New York Environmental Summit, "Awaken 2 Action," will run from 8:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Saturday in the Wick Center on the Daemen College campus, 4380 Main St., Snyder. Admission is free. Featured speakers are: Brendan Mehaffy, executive director of the Buffalo Office of Strategic Planning, discussing "Buffalo Green Code"; Sandy Chelnov, of the League of Women Voters, "Climate Smart Communities"; Hal Morse, representing the Greater Buffalo Niagara Regional Transportation Council, "One Region Forward: Sustainable Communities Regional Planning Grant"; and Elizabeth Santacrose, of Ecology and Environment, "How to Build Cleaner, Greener Communities." The summit will offer electronics recycling drop-off, and, after the event concludes, tours of the Daemen campus Ecotrail and the Research & Information Commons.
