Teen sought in Niagara Falls homicide

NIAGARA FALLS - City police Wednesday continued their search for an 18-year-old man who is a person of interest in a Tuesday evening homicide on South Avenue, just a few blocks from city Police Headquarters.
"We are looking to question Darius 'Drizz' Belton, who is a person of interest at this time," Police Superintendent John R. Chella said. "We would like to locate him so we can question him as to the circumstances and his involvement in the [homicide].
The shooting appears to be a domestic incident, Chella said.
Luis A. Ubiles, 37, of South Avenue, was found by police just after 6 p.m. Tuesday, with a single gunshot wound to the chest outside the home of Belton, whose house is just a few doors away in the 1600 block of South Avenue.
Ubiles was taken to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead a short time after the shooting.
The two men are "blood relatives," Chella said, though he did not elaborate on how the two were related.
"There's a relationship between the two, a blood relationship. They did know each other and it appears to be a domestic-related incident," the police superintendent said.
Chella said investigators "had their feelers out" and were still interviewing people and taking statements on Wednesday.
He said finding Belton will be key in the investigation.
