Keith McShea's rankings of the best of the fall:

1. East Aurora cross country: Another week, another dominant performance by both the Blue Devils boys and girls at EA Invitational.

2. Orchard Park football: They had a close call, but I recall some fine OP teams having a headache of a time at Frontier. OP plays at Jamestown next Friday.

3. Clarence girls swimming: Winners of team scoring in last year's state meet won 9 of 11 races at Orchard Park Friday.

4. Canisius football: A win in Ohio against a team ranked 20th by the Cleveland Plain Dealer deserves a bolt up this list (and our large school football ballot).

5. Orchard Park girls volleyball: Knocked off St. Mary's among other ranked teams at Frontier Invitational before falling to Rochester Mercy.

6. Alden and Depew football: Super small schools share billing here for dominant 4-0 starts — but only until No. 2 Wildcats visit No. 1 Bulldogs in Alden Friday night.

7. Canisius volleyball: Unanimous No. 1 in WNY hosts St. Joe's tonight (our bad — chest tap — we were a week early on this one in last week's rankings).

8. East Aurora soccer: Both boys and girls teams are unanimous No. 1 small schools in WNY.

9. Clarence boys soccer: No. 1 large school goes for season sweep of Williamsville North Friday.

10. Bishop Timon-St. Jude football: Host St. Mary's in an intriguing game Friday night — Tigers' first home game of the season.

Honor roll: Orchard Park girls soccer, St. Mary's girls volleyball, Sweet Home football, West Seneca East football, Clarence cross country, Lockport cross country and boys soccer, Williamsville South girls soccer.
