Hamburg police officer
 injured in two-car crash

A Hamburg police officer was hurt late Tuesday during a two-car crash at Big Tree Road and St. Francis Drive.

An investigation of the crash was continuing late Tuesday. Police remained at the scene and had not yet released additional information.

Police investigating drive-by shooting near Hamlin Park

Buffalo police late Tuesday continued to investigate a drive-by shooting in the 200 block of East Delavan Avenue earlier in the evening.

Initial reports indicated at least one victim, and possibly two, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to Erie County Medical Center after the 6 p.m. shooting.

After being advised of the Hamlin Park area incident, Canisius College officials alerted students to avoid the area for the rest of Tuesday night.

Police officials said the shooting resulted from an argument between people who knew each other. Two suspects were taken into custody, but police would not say more.

College public safety officers recovered a firearm that may have been used in the incident.

Driver caught speeding 
faces multiple charges

A Kenmore man faces a variety of traffic and drug charges after being stopped about 12:40 p.m. Tuesday for driving about 80 mph in a 55 mph zone on the Youngmann Highway, state police said.

Michael A. Vazquez, 23, was driving on a suspended license and a search of his vehicle revealed numerous hypodermic needles and three glass vials containing sterile testosterone, according to a police report.

He was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument, unauthorized operation of a motor vehicle and speeding.

Niagara Falls police
investigate fatal shooting

NIAGARA FALLS – Niagara Falls police late Tuesday were questioning a South Avenue teen in connection with the fatal shooting of city man earlier in the evening.

Luis Ubiles, 37, also of South Avenue, was shot near his home in the 1600 block at about 6:05 p.m. Tuesday, city police said. Ubiles suffered a single gunshot wound to the chest and was pronounced dead a short time later at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, police said.

Cheektowaga woman 
pleads guilty in drug case

LOCKPORT – Sharee R. Bailey, 20, of Vern Lane, Cheektowaga, pleaded guilty Tuesday in Niagara County Court to selling cocaine in North Tonawanda on Oct. 3.

Assistant District Attorney Peter M. Wydysh said Bailey was offered a plea to fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance in exchange for a promise not to prosecute her on two subsequent alleged drug deals.

Bailey was scheduled for sentencing Jan. 9 by Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas.

Amherst man charged
with rape, sodomy

An Amherst man has been charged with raping and sodomizing a girl in the City of Buffalo last month, Buffalo police said Tuesday.

Cammeron Scott, 21, of Meyer Road, was charged with third-degree rape and attempted sexual abuse after he was questioned by Detective Kimberly Tomassi.

Scott is accused of ignoring the victim's "clearly expressed" wish not to be sexually active with him, according to a police report, which said Scott raped and sodomized the girl against her will Aug. 2.

Police did not release the age of the girl.

Man held on DWI charges 
is accused of shootings

A Genesee County man who already is being held on drunken-
driving charges was charged with felony reckless endangerment and criminal mischief for allegedly randomly firing at cars and houses in Erie, Genesee and Niagara counties.

Eric A. Easton, 29, of Alabama, will be transferred from the Erie County Holding Center to the Genesee County Jail to face additional charges linked to July 10 shooting incidents, authorities said.

Midday traffic stop
results in felony charges

CUBA – A Ransomville man was arrested on felony drug charges after he was pulled over at midday Monday with three dozen marijuana plants in his car, town police said.

Justin M. Goff, 26, was stopped shortly after noon in Cuba. Police said they found 37 marijuana plants, all about four to five feet tall, in his sedan.

Police said the plants have an estimated street value of about $10,000.

Goff was charged with felony third-degree criminal possession of marijuana and several traffic counts.

He was awaiting arraignment Tuesday.
