SALCZYNSKI, Eve (Ewa) Helen

SALCZYNSKI - Eve (Ewa) Helen Died suddenly at her home September 17, 2012, beloved sister of Izabella (John Fricano) and of Maria (Michael Friedman), and beloved aunt of John and Stephen Fricano, all surviving relatives. Creative and intelligent, demanding and tenacious, an outspoken quick wit, yet giving, funny, and a guiding mentor with a generous heart. Eve was a brilliant writer and a ghost writer for others, had created and designed web pages and graphics for small businesses, and wrote a monthly feature for the Chamber of Commerce newsletter. Hospitality, coordination and execution were her forte. Eve was the Director of the Administrative Unit of the Buffalo Neuroimaging Analysis Center (BNAC) since 2003, and served as Executive Assistant to Robert Zivadinov, MD, PhD, Director of BNAC. Eve was instrumental in the success of the BNAC and its many valuable contributions to the Jacobs Neurological Institute's research program. Born in Buffalo, Eve received her BA degree in Communications in 1982 from the SUNY Buffalo. Eve had a joyous visit to Poland in 2007 and had reconnected with her roots in the Polish community in Buffalo. Eve tremendously enjoyed her work at BNAC where she shepherded the research scholars and visiting fellows and the staff speaks of her as a "mother hen." She was a right hand to Dr. Zivadinov, who said she will be sorely missed and almost impossible to replace. A service was held on Saturday, September 22 at the Kazmierzak Funeral Home. There will also be a memorial service at Buffalo General Medical Center on Monday, September 24, 2012, in the Cummings Conference Center on D2 at 5:00 pm. University of Buffalo has established the Eve H. Salczynski Hospitality Fund in her memory administered by the UB Foundation. The family welcomes contributions to this fund in lieu of flowers.
