The Greater Buffalo Building Owners and Managers Association recently presented Dennis Cannon its 2012 Property Manager of the Year Award. The award recognizes a commercial real estate property manager for his or her integrity of business conduct and commitment to delivering the highest level of professionalism. Cannon is senior property and project manager at Comvent Consulting.

Ted Grasela will be honored with the 2013 Gary Neil Prize for Innovation in Drug Development at the March 2013 American Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics annual meeting in Indianapolis. The award acknowledges people and teams leading scientific breakthroughs in clinical drug development. Grasela is president, chief executive officer and co-founder of Cognigen Corp., a pharmacometric analysis and support services provider in Buffalo. He is a longtime faculty member and Ph.D graduate of the University at Buffalo, where he serves as an adjunct professor of pharmaceutical sciences.

J. Fitzgerald Group, a Lockport-based advertising and marketing agency, announced the nonprofit organizations that won free advertising and marketing services as part of the Western New York CreateAthon. They are: Institute on Aging, Serving the San Francisco Bay Area; Kids Escaping Drugs; Market Street Art Center; Providence Christian Ministries; United Way of Greater Niagara; WNY Challenger Sports League; and Wheels With Wings. The CreateAthon program is a 24-hour creative blitz during which advertising agencies and design firms work on a pro-bono basis for nonprofit organizations.

Western New York-based No Frills Buffalo publishing company released a new book, "The Amulet," by Hamburg native and Niagara University student Sarah Page.

Allpro Parking recently began operating the Gibbs Street Lot at 86 Gibbs St., near Main and Chestnut streets, in the East End District of Rochester. The Gibbs Street location is among 16 parking facilities contracted by Allpro Parking in Rochester.



Five Star Bank presented a $500 donation to the Medina Sandstone Society and Trust during a ceremony at the bank's new Medina branch. The donation was awarded as part of the bank's corporate charitable giving program, which primarily focuses on youth education.
