Two former coaches and six athletes will be inducted into the Lockport High School Athletic Hall of Fame at the Lockport Holiday Inn on Sept. 14.

The honorees will be coaches Dick Crossett (basketball, 1965-84) and Ron Main (cross country, 1969 to present) and athletes Don Dunn (basketball, class of 1950), Kenneth Smith (football, basketball, baseball, class of '52), John Fuerch (basketball, track, soccer '66), Doug Langdon (football, soccer, track, '71), Beth Crossett Smits (soccer, basketball, '86) and Kevin Crawford (golf, 2002).?Tickets for the induction are $30 and are available at the main office of Lockport High Schoo, 250 Lincoln Ave., or Sullivan's Hair Design on Walnut Street in Lockport. The Buffalo Sabres and the Buffalo Sabres Alumni Association in conjunction with the Buffalo Junior Sabres will create a Junior Sabres 12-under hockey team to compete in this season's Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament. The annual tournament, an 11-day event referred to as the "Pee-Wee World Championships," runs Feb. 14-24 at Pepsi Coliseum in Quebec City.

The Junior Sabres team will be coached by former defenseman Rory Fitzpatrick. Tryouts will be held in early September. Further details regarding tryouts will be released in the coming weeks.

BASKETBALL: Girls in 8th and 9th grade needed for The Independence Shootout Tournament on July 7 at the BNCC. SOFTBALL: Registration deadline for the fifth Annual Crusade Against Impaired Driving softball tournament is Sunday. Visit The tournament is coed and will be held Aug. 11, at Sunshine Park, West Seneca and is open to adults 18 years and older.

RUNNING: The Chautauqua Institution will hold a 2.76 mile run/walk Aug. 4 at 9 a.m. A $20 donation includes a T-shirt, and age group awards. Proceeds to benefit the Chautauqua Fund. Call 357-6281.
