Western New York was treated to some world-class soccer performers in 2011 when the WNY Flash performed. Christine Sinclair certainly fit that description.
Sinclair has been good for quite a while. The British Columbia native was an all-star in an under-14 league at the age of 11. She went on to lead club teams to six league titles. Then it was on to the University of Portland, where the forward helped the Pilots win national championships in 2002 and 2005. Sinclair was a consensus All-American.
She started to gain an international reputation as she became one of Canada's top players, performing for the national team in two World Cups and an Olympics. Sinclair won an award for being her nation's best player six times.
As a pro, she played two seasons with FC Gold Pride before landing with the Flash for 2011. She had 10 goals in 15 games, and scored in the shootout of the championship game to help give her team the WPS title.
