Bryan A. Gomez, 27-year Buffalo firefighter
Oct. 27, 1961 -- June 5, 2012

Bryan A. Gomez, a Buffalo firefighter, died Tuesday in Roswell Park Cancer Institute. He was 50.

A Buffalo native, he served with the Buffalo Fire Department for 27 years.

He graduated from Grover Cleveland High School.

In 2000, he won the award for Outstanding Performance of Duty from Local 202, Buffalo Professional Firefighters. He was also a certified first responder.

Mr. Gomez was a huge sports fan, supporting all local teams and the Boston Red Sox. He also enjoyed the outdoors and was a fan of the band KISS.

He is survived by his wife, Leisamarie; a son, Brett; his mother, Blanca N. Rodriguez; five brothers, Raymond, Lawrence, Edwin, Eladio and Carlos; and three sisters, Debra, Dianne and Angie.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Renovation Church, 567 Hertel Ave.
