TIME OF NEED -- Paralyzed on her left side since she suffered a traumatic brain injury in an accident, Tracy Polvino, of Cheektowaga, and her husband are facing a mountain of expenses for medical treatment, equipment and adaptations to their home.

PEDAL PUSHERS -- Preparing for the annual Ride for Roswell on June 23 is a group of cyclists who call themselves Danielle's Wild Birds. Last year they raised more than $10,000, and this year they're hoping to match or surpass that total by hosting a beer blast from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday in Molly Maguire's, 834 Abbott Road.

SUMMER FARE -- Bigger than ever is the Niagara Frontier Radio Reading Service's fifth annual Book & Media Super-Sale beginning at 8 a.m. today and Saturday in front of its headquarters at 1199 Harlem Road, between William and Clinton, Cheektowaga.
Featured will be thousands of books, books on tape and CD, records, videos, DVDs, CDs and cassettes. Proceeds will benefit the volunteer agency's program of daily readings of newspapers, books and magazines broadcast via special "reading radios" to local people who are blind or cannot read.
