Stephania M. Zajac, the co-founder and former president of Zajac Funeral Home in Niagara Falls, died Thursday in Niagara Falls following a short illness. She was 98.
Born Stephania M. Klimecko in Niagara Falls, she attended local schools.
Mrs. Zajac and her late husband, Henry J., started the funeral home in 1949.
She was the oldest member of Divine Mercy Catholic Church, formerly St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. She also was current president of the Polish Women's Alliance Council and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary 1465, St. Stan's Seniors, Wanda Polek Society, American Women's Business Association, the Polish Cultural Historical Society and a former member of the St. Stan's Mothers Club.
Her husband, whom she married in 1947, died in 2004.
She is survived by a daughter, Leonore M. Attfield.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 24th and Niagara streets, Niagara Falls, preceded by prayers at 9:30 a.m. in Zajac Funeral Home, 319 24th St., Niagara Falls.
