Francesca V. Feeney of Buffalo, a social worker at Sisters Hospital for 20 years, died Friday in Sisters Hospital after a brief illness. She was 58.
Born in Northport, Suffolk County, she was a 1978 graduate of the University at Buffalo, where she earned a bachelor's degree in sociology.
Ms. Feeney pursued a career in social work at Sisters Hospital, advocating for the elderly and the infirm. She pursued many artistic interests during her free time.
She was a Soka Gakkai International Nichiren Buddhist, following the teachings of Nichiren Daishonin, a Buddhist monk who lived in 13th century Japan.
Surviving are two brothers, Thomas and Paul; and four sisters, Alida Ferrari, Joanne Christopher, Mary and Teresa.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. June 23 in the SGI-USA Buddhist Community Center, 531 Virginia St.
