John J. Gambino of Lewiston, a Ford automobile dealer in Lockport and Niagara Falls for more than 50 years, died Tuesday in Niagara Hospice House, Lockport. He was 83.
A native of Niagara Falls and a lifelong resident of the Niagara area, Mr. Gambino was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School. He served in the Air National Guard until his discharge in 1953 with the rank of airman second class.
He was the owner and sales manager of three automobile dealerships: Gambino Ford in Lockport, Gambino Rainbow Ford and Lincoln Mercury, and Gambino Rainbow Ford and Toyota, both in Niagara Falls. He was a five-time recipient of the Ford Motor Co. President's Award for Customer Satisfaction.
Mr. Gambino was a member of Council 247, Knights of Columbus, in Niagara Falls and Niagara Falls Country Club of Lewiston.
Survivors include three sons, Patrick J., Jerald P. and Dino J.; a daughter, Elizabeth Badolato; and a sister, Josephine O'Donnell.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Bernard Catholic Church, Second and Hinman Streets, Youngstown, after prayers at 9 in M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel, 2730 Military Road, Town of Niagara.
