NEIGHBORHOOD EVENT: Independent Health Foundation's Good for the Neighborhood program will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. today at Westminster Community Charter School, 24 Westminster Ave. Free bike helmets from the Buffalo Police Athletic League will be distributed while supples last to children who are present. The free event also includes a bounce house, free health screenings, healthy chef and food samples, free farmers' market and Ask the Expert. DOCUMENTARY: A special screening of the new documentary "PRICELE$$," by Emmy-nominated filmmaker Steve Cowan, which explores the influence of lobbyists in Washington, will begin at 6 p.m. today in Burning Books, 420 Connecticut St. A question-and-answer session will follow.

PLANT SALE: Brompton Heights will host the Opportunities Unlimited Annual Mother's Day Plant Sale from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at 275 Brompton Road, Amherst. Prices start at $5 and include 20 to 30 varieties of houseplants, tropical plants, violets, 4-inch miniature roses and hanging baskets. Free ice cream with any purchase. MOTHER'S DAY TEA: The Hull House will conduct a Mother's Day Tea at 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday in the late-1800s Victorian house at 5962 Genesee St., Lancaster. Tiny sandwiches, fresh scones and petit desserts will be served by ladies attired in early 1800s-style dresses. The cost is $20 for adults and $10 for children under 10. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 741-7032. The tea is not recommended for very young children. Tours of the historic Hull Family Home and Farmstead will be available from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. All proceeds benefit Hull the restoration of the Hull House.

BOATER SAFETY: The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office will hold a Boater Safety Course from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Southwestern Middle School, 600 Hunt Road, Jamestown. Students must be at least 10 years old. No preregistration required. Courses are free to those under 18; $10 for age 18 and over.
