Ready. Set. Crawl.
This weekend marks a watershed moment in the growth of the national gallery crawl movement, in which art spaces and local businesses open their doors to crowds in search of art, community, wine and cheese. Two separate gallery crawl events will get under way this afternoon in Allentown and East Aurora, with a third to follow Saturday in Springville.
Buffalo hosts its increasingly popular monthly "First Fridays" event, which tonight features at least eight exhibitions in galleries scattered around the neighborhood from 6 to 9 p.m. Details are at www.firstfridaysallentown.com.
Also today, from 5 to 9 p.m., East Aurora hosts its Spring Art Walk, with exhibitions at 10 venues along the village's main drag, including Meibohm Fine Arts, Taste coffee shop and redFISH Art Studios. More information is at www.meibohmfinearts.com.
Finally, Springville's burgeoning arts scene, building on the success of its inaugural fall art walk, will host its own spring affair from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday. The event, juried by VanOver Fine Arts owner Richard VanOver, features a range of media exhibited in businesses along Springville's Main Street.
