Steven Bachmann Dietz, of Kenmore, a personal injury attorney, died unexpectedly Saturday in Kenmore Mercy Hospital, Town of Tonawanda. He was 59.
Born in Rockville Centre, L.I., he earned a degree in English from Geneseo State College and a degree in journalism from the University at Buffalo. After a brief stint as a newspaper editor, he worked as a paralegal for a personal injury law firm on Long Island and developed a passion for legal writing and research.
He returned to Buffalo in 1995 and attended UB Law School, where he was publications editor for the Buffalo Law Review and interned with Assemblyman Sam Hoyt. He earned his law degree in 1997 and joined the New York State Bar in 1998.
He practiced with the firm of Lorenzo & Cohen and then with HoganWillig.
An active member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, he enjoyed learning, music, baseball and politics.
Surviving are his wife of 17 years, the former Mary Regina Bachmann; two daughters,
Julia and Liliana; his mother, Dortha; and a sister, Jane.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Andrew Church, 1525 Sheridan Drive, Town of Tonawanda.
