Norman Whitt, a retired biomedical engineer, died Sunday in Buffalo General Medical Center after a long illness. He was 59.
Born in Uniontown, Ala., Mr. Whitt moved to Buffalo as a child with his family.
He graduated from Buffalo State College with a degree in biomedicine, his family said.
In 2009, Mr. Whitt retired from Buffalo General Hospital after 25 years as a biomedical engineer.
Mr. Whitt also was an associate pastor at Memorial Baptist Church on Humboldt Parkway.
Surviving are four sons, Norman, Mario, Judge III and Mauryon Gambill; two daughters, Norma Whitt Brown and Fantah; a brother, Judge Jr.; and two sisters, Mary Francis Griffin and Vivian.
A wake will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, followed by a service at 11 in New Zion Baptist Church, 318 High St.
