Events for people with disabilities

Headway of Western New York, a not-for-profit agency and an affiliate of People Inc., will host its annual fundraising event, "Healing, Growing, Celebrating Life," from 5:30 to 9 p.m. May 10 in Westwood Country Club, Windows on the Green, 772 North Forest Road, Amherst. Featured will be music, food and auctions. The benefit will help the agency continue its support, advocacy and community education programs for individuals with brain injuries and other disabilities. Tickets are $40, which include food, two hours of beverages and a chance to win door prizes. For more information, call 408-3100.

Danceability Inc., a nonprofit program for children and adults with special needs utilizing dance and movement to enable and empower students, is holding its fifth annual performances, titled "Believe," at 2 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. May 12 at Cleveland Hill High School, 105 Mapleview Drive, Cheektowaga. Dancers will perform pieces for family, friends and community. Tickets are $8 presale, and $10 at the door. Developmental Disabilities Alliance of Western New York, 7 Community Drive, Cheektowaga, is a collaborative group of member voluntary agencies that provides services to people with developmental disabilities. Englewood Drop-In Services, 66 Englewood Ave., is a peer-operated program of Restoration Society Inc. offering a variety of free and flexible community-based services to help adults with mental health conditions achieve personal satisfaction in attainment of basic needs, quality of life and fulfillment of meaningful community relationships and roles.
