Bisons game called by rain

SYRACUSE -- The Buffalo Bisons' game against the Syracuse Chiefs on Saturday afternoon at Alliance Bank Stadium was postponed due to rain. The game will be made up today as one of two, seven-inning affairs beginning at noon.

Buffalo's Jeurys Familia (1-1, 6.59) will face Yunesky Maya (1-1, 2.60) in the opener. Familia looks to bounce back from his first career Triple-A loss Monday. The righty allowed six runs in four innings against Lehigh Valley.

The nightcap will feature the Herd's Chris Schwinden (2-1, 2.25) against Tanner Roark (0-3, 6.46).

The Herd began a six-game road trip with a 6-4 victory over the Chiefs on Friday night. That gave the Bisons a 3-2 record in the 2012 Thruway Series, a half-game behind first-place Rochester (4-2). After today's series finale in Syracuse, the Bisons will move on for a three-game series against Lehigh Valley in Allentown, Pa.
