DeWAN - Sharon (nee Britting)
Age 53, of Tarpon Springs, FL, called home to God on April 2, 2012 after her battle with cancer; born January 9, 1959 in Buffalo, NY; beloved wife of 21 years of Vail DeWan; Cherished mother of Jessica (Russell) Youell, Joseph (Elizabeth), Kelly and Vail DeWan; loving daughter of Donalda and the late Tracy Britting; devoted grandmother of Carter, Jamison and Tyler Youell; dear sister of Marie, Bill, Tracy, Joseph and the late Richard Britting. Sharon graduated from Frontier Central High School and began her lifelong dream of helping people in 1980 after graduation as a Registered Nurse from Buffalo General Hospital. After working many years recovering open heart surgery patients, Sharon continued her higher education and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Sharon then went on to earn her Master of Science in Nursing from East Tennessee State University. While in her Master's program, Sharon co-authored a scientific paper that was published in a national nursing journal. After moving back to Florida in 2005, Sharon helped to set up the Minute Clinics for CVS Pharmacy and was one of their team leaders. Always active in the Catholic Church, Sharon was instrumental in establishing the continuous adoration at St. John Neumann Church in Concord, TN. She will be remembered for her grace, kindness, unselfishness and strength, even during her battle with cancer. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Friends received at the LAKESIDE MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, INC. 4199 Lake Shore Rd. (corner of Camp Rd. and Rte. 5) Hamburg, NY 716-627-2919 on Wednesday from 12-3 PM where a funeral service will immediately follow at 3 PM.
