Joseph M. Kramer, a World War II veteran and retired dentist, died Thursday in Our Lady of Peace Health Care Center after a brief illness. He was 99.
A native of Niagara Falls, Dr. Kramer was a graduate of the University of Buffalo Dental School class of 1936.
In 1939, he married the former Matilda Kanter, who died in 1999.
During World War II, Dr. Kramer served as a captain in the Army in the European, African and Middle Eastern theaters. He saw action in battles in northern France, the Rhineland, Ardennes and central Europe.
After the war, Dr. Kramer resumed his private dental practice in Niagara Falls, which he continued until his retirement in 1982. He was member of the Eighth District Dental Society, the UB Dental School Alumni Association and was a 32nd-degree Mason.
He is survived by a daughter, Jane R.; a son, Daniel; and a sister; Libby Pudeloff. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Spallino-Amigone Funeral Home, 1300 Pine Ave.
