DYGERT, Robert Doc, DVM

DYGERT - Robert "Doc", DVM Robert William Dygert, DVM, native of Springville, NY and a resident of Port Orange, FL passed away peacefully with family members at his FL home March 31, 2012 following a short illness of lung disease. Dygert, 79, was an equine (horse) and small animal veterinarian and founder and long-time operator of Hamburg Veterinary Clinic, 3646 Pleasant Ave., Hamburg from 1966 until his retirement in 2005. The practice is now operated by Renee Bugenhagen, DVM of Eden, NY. Born March 6, 1933 in Gowanda, NY as the middle of three sons of the late famed trotting standardbred racehorse trainer Dewitt Clinton Dygert and the late Virginia Utrich Dygert, he grew up on the Dygert Dairy Farm (at Elk and Cattaraugus Sts., Springville) on land that was once home to the Erie County Fair. He was predeceased by his parents, his loving wife of 35 years Joanne Boss Dygert and his oldest brother David D. Dygert, DVM. Dr. Dygert, known to his grandchildren and countless others as "Papa Doc" is survived by two sons: Robert Dewitt Dygert (wife Barbara Bippert Dygert); Brian Kenneth Dygert (wife Linda Mattox Dygert); a daughter Becky Dygert Baltimore (husband Warren Richard Baltimore II); five grandchildren: Chelsea Joanne Dygert, Dillon Robert Dygert, Kirby Lynn Dygert, Warren Richard Baltimore III and Joanne Judith Baltimore; brother: John Peter Dygert; special friend: Betti Menchi and many adoring cousins, nieces, nephews, dear friends and neighbors. The family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Monday April 9 and Tuesday April 10 at SMITH-WEISMANTEL FUNERAL HOME, 271 E. Main St., Springville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday April 11 at 10 AM in St. Aloysius Church, 190 Franklin St., Springville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Erie County Agricultural Society Scholarship Fund in memory of Dr. Robert W.
