Richard J. Mentecky, computer analyst, consultant Feb. 7, 1964 -- Feb. 24, 2012

Richard John Mentecky, of Depew, a computer analyst, died Friday in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst, after a brief illness. He was 48.

Born in Middlesex, England, he was a 1982 graduate of Iroquois Central High School and attended Case Western Reserve University and the University at Buffalo.

A lifelong computer enthusiast, he was a programmer and systems analyst with Microsoft, Intel, iRobot, IBM and Erie County Central Police Services. In recent years, he worked as a computer consultant.

He was a former board member of the Professional and Businessmen's Association.

Surviving are his wife of 14 years, the former Wendy A. Jarzyniecki; two sons, Daniel and Ronald; two daughters, Cassandra and Michelle; his mother, Valerie Wild; a brother, Robert; and three sisters, Carol Gload, Barbra Dickes and Jackie.

A gathering in his memory will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the Elmwood Lounge, 522 Elmwood Ave.
