Dan Lictus scored on a putback at the buzzer as Clymer pulled out a 40-39 win over Sherman in a Section VI Class D semifinal boys basketball game Monday at Jamestown Community College.
Sherman led, 24-14, in the second quarter, and had beaten Clymer twice during the regular season, but they couldn't pull off the trifecta.
Lictus finished with 16 points. Andrew Graham led the Wildcats (15-5) with 15.
In the other Class D semifinal, Nick Lenart had 23 points, six assists and five steals as No. 1 seed Panama beat Brocton, 65-37. The Panthers led the whole way jumping out to a 15-9 lead after the first quarter.
No. 1 seed and CCAA IV champion Panama will play Clymer (13-7) for the title on Friday at 5:30 p.m. back at Jamestown CC.
Molly Sikorski and Nikki Kirchberger had three goals each, and Alyssa Gates had the shutout as West Seneca eliminated Lancaster, 12-0, in a WNY Federation quarterfinal at Northtown. West Seneca coach Pete Tonsoline said Lancaster goaltender Madeline Norton was "unbelievable" as she faced 76 shots.
West Seneca (14-2) advanced to Wednesday's semifinal against Orchard Park/Frontier, a 2-1 winner in overtme against Williamsville.
